We attended LEGO Kidsfest in Charlotte over the weekend. I must say this event is worth the drive and the cost of admission. We were there from 4:30 p until 8:00 p and still didn't have a chance to visit every exhibit! The time truly flew by and we all had a blast!
This is actually our second year attending LEGO Kidsfest. My children, ages 9, 10, and 13, loved it so much the first year, they wanted to go back. We were all amazed at how the LEGO brick has transformed. This year the staff handed out a lot of sample LEGO sets at most of the exhibits. I distinctly remember the gray cat because the head moves from side to side, the tail moves up and down, and the feet move!
My son loves the Sanitation truck because the trash cans move up and down and the lids come off so you can dump "trash" into the back of the truck. ;)
The staff is always super incredible at this event. I am impressed with their kindness, helpful attitudes, and overall patience with hundreds of children running around!
This year our favorite exhibit was Star Wars Relay/Scavenger Hunt. There were 4-5 teams of 5 people per team competing. The object was to get build your Star Wars ship the fastest. Each team member had a piece of the ship to find in a rectangle tote filled with LEGO bricks. A person from each team had to race to the table, dig through and find their piece, run back to the table, tag the next player to do the same. Once all pieces were found, the ship must be built. The funny thing was we came in last but LEGO Kidsfest has no winners or losers, everyone wins! They gave all players a LEGO set for playing. I think my husband liked it best because I was a site running in heeled shoes. ;)
While inside you'll get hungry and thirsty. There are concession stands, Dippin Dots, Pretzels, and freshly squeezed lemonade to satisfy you. Oh Man! Now I want one of those lemonades! I can still taste it!
Before you leave LEGO Kidsfest, be sure to go in the LEGO store and do a little shopping. You'll find exactly what you're looking for because they have it ALL!
Don't miss this event! If it has already came to your state, look out for it again next year. It is a fabulous event that the whole family will enjoy!
